Blizzard Warnings Extended
Compared to this morning (scroll down), there is a new area of southeast Nebraska (including Omaha -Council Bluffs) under a blizzard warning (orange). However, I believe winds will gust to 50 mph with significant snow as far south as I-70 in the Topeka-KC-Blue Springs areas on Wednesday morning.
It is likely there will be flight delays in Denver, Kansas City and Omaha over the next two days.
Yellow is an enhanced risk of tornadoes. Brown is a significant risk. No tornadoes are expected before 10pm this evening. Here's a quick summary of the colors:
- Orange, blizzard warning
- Pink (South Dakota and northeast New Mexico), winter storm warning
- Gold, high wind warning. Gusts to 70 mph possible in the High Plains
- Brown, high wind watch
- Dark green, winter storm watch
- Magenta, fire weather forecast
- Purple, winter weather advisory
- Sand, wind advisory
Keep in mind that tornadoes and damaging thunderstorm winds are quite possible overnight in Oklahoma and north Texas.
