Blizzard Warnings Extended

Compared to this morning (scroll down), there is a new area of southeast Nebraska (including Omaha -Council Bluffs) under a blizzard warning (orange). However, I believe winds will gust to 50 mph with significant snow as far south as I-70 in the Topeka-KC-Blue Springs areas on Wednesday morning.

It is likely there will be flight delays in Denver, Kansas City and Omaha over the next two days.

Here's a quick summary of the colors:
  • Orange, blizzard warning
  • Pink (South Dakota and northeast New Mexico), winter storm warning
  • Gold, high wind warning. Gusts to 70 mph possible in the High Plains
  • Brown, high wind watch
  • Dark green, winter storm watch
  • Magenta, fire weather forecast
  • Purple, winter weather advisory
  • Sand, wind advisory
Keep in mind that tornadoes and damaging thunderstorm winds are quite possible overnight in Oklahoma and north Texas.
Yellow is an enhanced risk of tornadoes. Brown is a significant risk. No tornadoes are expected before 10pm this evening.
