Update on Dangerous Flooding Risk in the Southeast

The NWS has revised their forecasts and are now calling for serious, life-threatening flooding.
Forecasts of a "high" risk of flash flooding are rare -- and, life threatening. In the strongest terms, prepare to evacuate if local authorities call for it especially in the purple area as well as the red area. Additional heavy rains will occur in these areas on Friday.

This is the storm total rainfall through Saturday night (2am EDT Sunday). Nearly 18" of rain is forecast in the southern Appalachians. The Atlanta Metro is forecast to have 9 - 10 inches. Major flash flooding will result.

Note: the forecast for (currently) Tropical Storm Helene is unchanged from the forecasts below.
