Damaging Wind Risk in the Great Plains

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has outlined the area where strong and severe thunderstorms will initially form. Over time, the east-moving thunderstorms will turn more southeast and south. See comprehensive forecast below.

Forecast from 3pm CDT Saturday to 4am Sunday
Thunderstorms are expected to form over the Front Range of the Rockies this afternoon and then move east into the Great Plains this evening and tonight. A squall line or even a derecho is forecast to occur.
The red, hatched area is where there is an enhanced risk of wind gusts of 75 mph or stronger.  The yellow areas have a significant risk of wind gusts of 60 mph or stronger.

I will update the forecast late this afternoon.
