4pm: Tornado Risk in the High Plains

A tornado watch is in effect for the southern High Plains until 11pm CDT. In addition to "a few tornadoes," 75 mph winds and hail to 3.5 inches are forecast to occur.

There is also a severe thunderstorm watch for western Kansas, eastern Colorado and far southwest Nebraska where "a couple of tornadoes are possible."  In addition, tennis ball-sized hail and wind gusts to 75 mph are forecast to occur.

As of 3:56pm, no thunderstorms have developed in the tornado watch. Strengthening thunderstorms are in southeast Colorado. A tornado warning is in effect in the southern Nebraska Panhandle.
