Aurora Borealis Visible Over Much of the United States Tonight - 5:18pm CDT Update

There has been a major solar storm and particles are racing toward earth that should cause an aurora tonight in much more southern areas than usual. There is a pretty spectacular video here

This forecast, from NOAA's Space Forecasting Unit, is interpreted in this manner: The green line is southernmost area where the aurora might be seen. Farther north, the darker the green, the higher the likelihood. That means that Nashville will have a higher probability than northern Hudson's Bay in this major solar storm (8 on a scale of 9).
