High Electrical Demand -- Little Wind Power

Temperatures across Texas at 2pm were quite hot.

Yet, as would be expected, there was little wind power available to help carry the air conditioning load. The actual wind energy that was being produced is in green.
As of 2 pm, the total wind generation in Texas was just 2600 megawatts out of a capacity of about 30,000. Put another way, wind was operating at just 8.6% of capacity when demand was very high

This is what we mean when we discuss the systemic issue about wind: it fails when it is needed the most, when it is very hot and very cold.

I'll have more to say about wind energy next week.
