Flood Forecast for the Southeast; Latest Drought Info

Threat of Major Flooding in Southeast
Above is the forecast rainfall for the next seven days. As much as seven inches of rain is forecast to fall along the Florida coast and in the mountains near Asheville. As the map below indicates, it is already wet in this region and these additional rains are likely to cause flooding. 

Current Moisture Conditions
Here is the latest Palmer Drought Index with data as of August 9.
The rains in the Southwest have improved conditions a bit, but things remain dire on the West Coast. 

The map below, is the rainfall from August 11 to this morning. 
These latest, and forecast, rains will significant ease the dryness in the eastern corn belt. They will also continue to improve drought conditions in New Mexico and southern Arizona.
