24-Hour Rainfall and Damaging Winds

More than seven inches of rain fell just southwest of La Plata, Missouri, which was part of an area of very heavy rains in northern Missouri. 

Elsewhere, highly beneficial rains fell across the region. 

More heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in northern Missouri and adjacent areas over the next seven days.

The map below shows reports of severe thunderstorm winds of 58 to 74 mph in blue and reports of 75 mph or stronger in black. There were gusts of 95 mph at the Omaha Airport. More than 400,000 people are without power in eastern Nebraska. 
More than 100,000 people are without power in the St. Louis area.
