Extreme Tornado Risk in the South
A very dangerous 36-hour period for tornadoes in the South. Here is the breakdown of the data contained in the above graphic.
- There is an extreme risk of tornadoes in the purple area. This is the first time I have used the "extreme" characterization since starting the 4-point descriptions in early 2020. In addition to tornadoes being extremely likely to occur, they are forecasted to be violent. This includes Birmingham, Tupelo, Starkville, Jackson and Greenville.
- There is a high risk tornadoes, some violent, in the red area (as indicated by the hatching).
- An enhanced risk of tornadoes exists in the yellow area.
- A significant risk of tornadoes exists in the brown area.
Tornado watches are already out. Check your local media. Here are safety recommendations.
As if this weren't bad enough, here is the forecast for tomorrow and tomorrow night.
This is a dangerous period in these areas. With violent tornadoes likely to occur, people can lose their lives if they don't take adequate precautions. Please monitor the weather in these areas and go to shelter if a warning is issued for your area. Note: I will not be providing continuous coverage of these storms.
