Tropical Storm Christobal
Tropical Storm Christobal continues to slowly strengthen in the Gulf on its way to landfall in Louisiana. Conditions will deteriorate on the northern Gulf Coast tonight.
Note that the winds are asymmetric; the there is much more wind above 40 mph (orange tinting) to the east of the center than to the west. That is going to cause a major problem with storm surge.
This map, click to enlarge, shows the peak storm surge potential. Evacuations are occurring in some coastal areas.
In addition, heavy rains and gusty winds are forecast to occur well inland.
I will be providing future information on Twitter @usweatherexpert.
