Hurricane Watch Issued For the Louisiana Coast

The NWS has issued a hurricane watch for the Louisiana coast (pink highlight). There is still considerable uncertainty as to the exact path and strength of what will likely be Hurricane Barry at landfall. However, the Hurricane Hunters are now in the storm. Their data, when added to the computer model forecasts this evening, should result in quite a bit more confidence tomorrow morning.

Flooding rains are also likely.
New Orleans is in a precarious situation as the Mississippi River is forecast to crest right at the height of the top of the levees. Additional torrential rains plus a storm surge, if they develop, may cause serious flooding. This will have to be watched closely
