VITAL Flash Flood Information

80% of the flash flood deaths occur in "high risk" flash flood outlooks. I cannot overemphasize how vital this information is.
  • Put together a "go kit" with passports, current utility bill (to establish residence), birth certificates, family heirlooms and other vital and difficult to replace material.
  • Keep your car filled with gas.
  • If you are in a flash flood warning, climb first.
  • Turn around, don't drown.
  • If you live in a flood-prone area, evacuate now.
ADDITION 10:48PM.
When we talk about catastrophic flooding, this is a good example. The Little River at Manchester is forecast to crest 8.7' above the previous record. Flooding like this has never before been seen in this area. There is much more to come, unfortunately.

Finally, here is the forecast of additional rainfall for the rest of the weekend. An additional 40" is forecast just NE of Wilmington. Circled are 20.0 and 31.4" amounts.
Note the 18.53" in the Virginia mountains. Many of the mountaintops are going to have more than 10" of rain (the "locally higher" in the forecasts if you scroll down).

There is going to be catastrophic flooding!!
