"Turn Around, Don't Drown!"
Forecaster Evie is in the weather station with her instruments this afternoon.
From the expression on her face you can tell that she is concerned; specifically about the potential for flooding. More than six inches of rain have already fallen between Dodge City and Garden City, Kansas. Some of the computer models are now showing more than ten inches in the central and southern Great Plains between now and Tuesday evening.
While Evie and I cannot tell exactly where the heaviest rains will fall, we can say this:
The number one cause of deaths in floods is people driving into flooded areas. Don't do it! Turn around and find another route or go to a Starbucks and get a coffee or to Sonic and get a Diet Coke and wait it out. Nothing is worth you life or the life of a friend or family member.
