Rainfall Since the Pattern Changed

What should have been the last widespread rain with the current weather system moving slowly across the Great Plains ended this morning. Here is the rainfall for the last 24 hours.

The weather pattern began its change from dry to wet two weeks ago today. Here is the total rainfall since that time (note the differing color scale):

One Wichita newsperson said these rains "saved the winter wheat." While I am not sure whether that is literally true, there is no question they were extremely helpful.

Fortunately, the weather pattern continues conducive to additional rainfall. Here is the NWS 7-day rainfall amount forecast for the region.
