If There is No Ice, Why Does the Coast Guard Need More Icebreakers?
President Obama has agreed to let the Coast Guard acquire two new "heavy" icebreakers. The Coast Guard says it may need as many as six. The first will be delivered by 2020.
Question: If President Obama believes in catastrophic global warming, why do they need any ice breakers at all after 2020?

Mike,
ReplyDeleteWe do need icebreakers especially for the Great Lakes the winter of 2014-2015 shut down shipping because of our limited resources. The lakers move a lot of bulk tonnage. The railroads can pick up some of the slack only if they have cars and other assets available but at a higher cost. What I do not like is the billion dollar price tag for each, that is rediculous. The Russians could build them for us much cheaper.
