Forecaster Evie: Be Safe at the Pool!

Forecaster Evie went to the pool today, but they had to clear the pool when lightning moved into the region. Here you see Evie checking the radar and the rain.

Remember: Take shelter if you can hear thunder. If you hear thunder, the lightning is close enough to strike. Stay in shelter until the thunder has ceased for 30 minutes.

  1. I was in Colorado hiking recently. We got stuck in a thunderstorm on the return. Lots of lightning and thunder, but as far as I could tell it was hitting along the ridge. We were in the valley, some 2000 feet below. The closest lightning strike was by time six or seven seconds away, over a mile. I was never too worried. Should I have been?
