South Central Kansas Rainfall

Using the dual-polarization radar, we can get some highly accurate rainfall estimate through 8:20pm.

Here are the colors and the corresponding rainfall amounts:
  • Black to gray, 0.01 inch.
  • Gray to turquoise, 1.90 inches.
  • Turquoise to green, 2.80 inches.
  • Green to magenta, 4.16 inches.
  • Magenta to blue, 5.48 inches.
Serious flash flooding has been reported in a number of areas along with swift water rescues.

  1. I'm not sure I understand your legend. Are you meaning "up to" like black to gray is 0.01 up to 1.90? and then gray to turquoise is what range?
    Because I know we live in an area on your map that is gray and we got .75

  2. Yes, the gray area is 0.01 inches to 1.89 inches. So, your rain gauge report corresponds to the dual-pol radar estimate. Thanks for the report.
