Travel Condition Update

Here is the NWS Forecast Radar as of 10pm CST. It has the interstate highways on it.

At that time, heavy snow is expected to be falling from along I-70 from Manhattan to Topeka to KC to near I-80 at Des Moines. Conditions on I-29 from KC to Omaha and I-35 from KC to Des Moines will rapidly deteriorate by then.

The line of thunderstorms in the Southeast is forecast to extend from Knoxville to Birmingham at that time with scattered strong storms as far east as Atlanta.

FAA Airport Travel Update as of 5:33pm CST:
  • Newark, Average Delay, 1 hr. 51 minutes
  • JFK, 2 hours, 44 minutes
  • Philadelphia, 1 hour, 16 minutes. 
As the storms get close to Atlanta, there will be at least scattered delays. Delays are also possible this evening at KC.
