Mesmerizing Cloud Time Lapse
When I was in my teens, I would see these clouds, look at my cloud chart, and see nothing like them listed. I thought I was misinterpreting the chart. As it turns out, this type of cloud -- undulatus asperatus -- while occurring since the beginning of time, was not identified as a unique cloud type until 2009.
The Capital Weather Gang has a nice story on this and how the cloud needs to be added to the list of official cloud types.
