Hurricane Odile Making Landfall

The airport (inland a few miles) at 10:10pm CDT had sustained winds of 86 mph with gusts to 117 mph. On the coast, I expect gusts above 125 mph and, perhaps, above 135 mph. This is a category 3 hurricane. There will also be considerable damage from the storm surge. It has not weakened the last few hours. Actually, there may be a small increase in intensity.
This will be the last update of the night since the storm is now making landfall.

ADDITION: 11:00 and 11:10PM (via iCyclone) from a hotel on the beach:
  • Ears popping. Front entrance completely destroyed. Debris blowing by opening at great speeds. Car alarms going off. Rain and wind enveloping lobby.
  • Sounds of trains going by, with whistling, Ears hurt from pressure. Large, thick plate-glass window just exploded-- didn't break, exploded. Interior walls vibrating. One of the worst cyclone I've ever been in. Frightening.
