Flash Flood Update

Please consider postponing travel in the yellow area until morning.  The area indicated will have at least some spots where rainfalls exceed 7 inches. It would not surprise me if there were a few reports of ten inches during the period from 4pm this afternoon to 8am tomorrow morning. Travelers should use extreme caution and remember never drive into a flooded area.

We have already had one report of 4.8 inches in southern Iowa with radar estimate of more 3 inches near I-29 in northwest Missouri. Flooding was reported in Omaha during the late afternoon.

The AccuWeather Regional Radar as of 7:30pm, shows heavy rain falling across the region with much more to the west (arrows) moving east.
