T.S. Arthur and Planning Guide

If you are planning to fly tomorrow, perhaps for the holiday weekend, it is going to be a mess because of widespread, strong thunderstorms forecast to affect the airline hubs in the East.
The fact that you are not flying to the East may not matter. The flights are so jammed that the slightest problem ripples across the system. Two of my relatives and two friends of mine slept in airports last week in a similar situation and a friend was 14 hours late. In no case were their specific flight directly affected by strong thunderstorms. So, if you are planning to travel by air, bring extra snacks, extra baby formula, extra cash, etc. In other words, prepare for delays.

Another issue is soon-to-be Hurricane Arthur.
Arthur is forecast to increase in intensity to 90 to 100 mph (sustained winds, higher gusts expected). There is some possibility of the storm gaining even more intensity. Here is an experimental storm surge map:
The yellow areas (click to enlarge) are regions where the surge is forecast to be at least three feet. This is important if you are planning to be in the region Thursday or Friday.

Here is the 7-day rainfall forecast:
There is much more from AccuWeather.
