Arthur Continuing to Strengthen; Conditions Deteriorating
Winds are gusting to 53 mph at Wilmington, NC's airport as Arthur moves north northeast. The pressure has fallen another 3 millibars. Peak wind gusts (offshore still) are around 100 to 110mph. The strengthening is also apparent by comparing the eye of the storm.
Three hours ago the eye was not well-defined.
Latest: The eye is very well-defined and the clouds have cleared in the center.
The strongest winds are getting ready to move inland as the storm moves toward the NNE.
It may strengthen a bit more in the next 3-5 hours. If it does, peak winds of 120 mph are not out of the question. If you live in an untied mobile and are near the coast, I urge you to consider moving to better shelter. This is a Category 2 hurricane based on the latest data and needs to be taken seriously.
