Sunday Fun: "Jersey Boys" (Movie) Review
As long-time readers know, I am a huge Four Seasons fan and, like just about everyone who has seen the musical, Jersey Boys, loved it. Now, I'd like to pass along my thoughts about the movie version.
I was in the audience for the movie's first showing in Wichita which had a surprisingly large crowd for a 12:20pm showing on a weekday. It quickly became obvious that many had seen the musical because there were people laughing before some jokes played out because they had seen the musical. The audience seemed to love the movie with spontaneous applause breaking out three times.
I liked the movie and certainly recommend it, especially for those that have not seen the musical. Because I don't want to ruin it for anyone, I don't want to go into details here. Don't let some critics who didn't care for the movie deter you; the New York Times didn't like the musical that it is now the 14th longest running show in Broadway history.
On a scale of 4:
Jersey Boys the movie: 3/4
Jersey Boys the musical: 5/4

It wasn't a very fun musical, nor was it all that interesting of a drama. It was just a middling piece of film in general. Good review Mike.
