Ice Storm Index
This is a useful tool to gauge the severity of the developing ice storm:
It is called the Sperry-Piltz Ice Accumulation Index (named after its creators).
Note that the purple areas in southeast Oklahoma and Arkansas (just west of MEM) call for "prolonged and widespread utility interruption" with "outages lasting 5 to 10 days."
It is urged, especially if you live in a red or purple area or close to either that you prepare for the possibility of power outages. Again, the ice storm preparation rules are here.
