Interior Secretary Jewell: Pejorative Comment About 'Climate Change' Deniers

"I hope there are no climate change deniers in the Department of the Interior."

While I appreciate her degree in mechanical engineering, that hardly qualifies her as an expert in climate or atmospheric sciences.

The use of a pejorative ("denier") indicates she is part of the problem rather than part of the solution when it comes to the deteriorating level of discourse in America.

Smart managers intentionally seek out a wide range of opinions in order to make the best decisions. By making comments like that, she insures she will not get the range of advice from her subordinates that the American people (who pay her salary) expect her to receive.

FACT: Temperatures have not risen for 16 years and show no sign of turning upward.

  • Every single day, we add another day to the record interval of time since the U.S. experienced a major hurricane.
  • World hurricane levels are moderate to low; nothing unusual.
  • Major tornadoes are not increasing (if anything, they are decreasing).
  • There are no widespread famines due to weather.

Secretary Jewell mentions Arctic ice. For the first time in years it is back in "normal" range!

Today's climate: What's not to like??

Could we please stop calling people names ("deniers") and start solving the world's immediate and serious environmental problems?!
