Derecho Situation Update 8:15am
At 8:14am, the derecho extended from about Lancaster, PA to just west of Dulles International Airport west of DC to Harrisonburg, VA.
It is still producing strong winds and we just had a report of some trees uprooted at Keedysville, Maryland along with 1 1/4" hail. This does threaten additional power outages.
The current Doppler wind data at the time of this posting shows pretty consistent 60 mph gusts with a few up to 70 mph. Given the already wet soil, trees are more likely than usual to fall which can include falling into homes and power lines. There are severe thunderstorm warnings ahead of the entire length of these intense storms.
