Derecho Over Atlantic; New Storms Forming
The derecho and its winds are crossing the beaches and are over the Atlantic with the exception of one related storm over southern Delaware.
Radar at 11:16am EDT, click to enlarge. Note the thunderstorms still in New York City. Air travel all over the East Coast is seriously delayed.
Those delays may grow over time as the second predicted area of thunderstorms continues to develop to the west. AccuWeather Regional Radar at 11:10am showed intensifying thunderstorms along the Ohio River moving into West Virginia then on west southwest to western Kentucky.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for this line of storms and it is in effect until 2pm EDT.
Remember: A severe thunderstorm is one with large hail and/or damaging winds.
I am not live-blogging the storms but I will have periodic updates.
