Flood Situation to Ease a Bit. Crop Update.

The map above shows where river flooding is occurring. In some cases the flooding is severe.

Fortunately, over the next three days the substantial moisture will be west and north of the flood areas and should not materially worsen the flooding.
There is concern about corn planting delays. The additional moisture in Kansas and southern Nebraska will help the 2013 wheat crop if it was not damaged by freezing temperatures.

Generally, temperatures have to reach about 25° or below for damage to occur. That threshold was reached in parts of southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma Panhandle with a few readings as low as 24°. However, quite a bit more wheat is grown farther east of that region and temperatures stayed above 25 degrees.
