"The Blizzard of Oz" & Tornado Risk Update
My friend Eric Holthaus has dubbed this storm The Blizzard of Oz. So be it.
Here is the radar as of 12:45pm.
In addition to the snow (blue) and ice (purple), note the thunderstorms in southeast Texas and Louisiana. Those could become severe later this afternoon. The NWS Storm Prediction Center has a 5% (which is a significant threshold) tornado risk area over parts of this region.
People in these areas should monitor local weather.
I'm going to be away from the blog for several hours as I have other things I need to do.
