Exciting News!

Last week, Mike and I were at the National Weather Festival in Norman where Mike was a featured guest speaker and signed copies of his two books, WARNINGS: The True Story of  How Science Tamed the Weather, and When the Sirens Were Silent: How the Warning System Failed a Community. Mike has a reputation as the go-to expert when it comes to extreme weather and he was recently given some very good news!

The exciting news is that Mike was just appointed the co-chair of the National Weather Service's assessment committee for Hurricane Sandy. This charter is to figure out what went wrong, what went right, best practices and changes in NWS products and procedures. The project begins soon and will last for several months.

And Thursday, Mike will be speaking at the 27th Annual Kansas Agri Expo which is the largest indoor agribusiness tradeshow in the Midwest to be held at Century II Convention Center. Congratulations Mike!
