Fire and Rain

The pink areas represent fire weather warnings for today. As the drought has improved a bit in the corn and winter wheat belts, it has worsened in the northern U.S. With high winds, wildfire risk is very high.

Meanwhile, the Southwest monsoon has really cranked up with frequent, heavy rains. The green area is flash flood watches.

As my friend Greg Gamer used to say, "There is plenty of rain. What we have is a faulty distribution system."

  1. we had 4 EBS warnings for severe storms and flash flood watches yesterday (Sunday). Lake Elsinore and Perris were the centers for the storm warnings. Nothing here but big fluffy clouds to the east.
