Several times we've talked about how hurricanes might be needed to help break the drought.  The new European model shows how widespread rains of three to more than five inches will occur when the storm moves inland. Note: I'm showing this more for illustrative purposes at this point since we do not know the exact future path of the storm.

While Isaac is making its way to the U.S., a separate weather system will cause needed rains in the winter wheat belt. Here is the latest forecast valid from now until 7am Tuesday.

If you are one of the tens of thousands coming to Wichita for the Blacktop Nationals this weekend, please make sure you bring an umbrella or rain gear. It will not be a continuous rain but there will be periods of showers and thunderstorms, especially on Saturday. Sunday looks drier at this point.
