"Isaac's Storm"
With "Isaac" out in the Atlantic, it occurs me to recommend a one of the best books having to do with weather -- Isaac's Storm by Erik Larson. It is the gripping story of the 1900 Galveston Hurricane which is the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States.
While non-fiction, it is written in the style of a novel. I liked that style so much I used it (along with The Right Stuff and Rocket Boys) as a style template for Warnings: The True Story of How Science Tamed the Weather.
Isaac's Storm has a 4.5-star rating (it should be 5!) at Amazon. Warnings has a 5-star rating.
If you are interested in learning about more modern forecasting and more recent hurricanes, Warnings will fill the bill.
