Great Book About General Aviation
Since meteorologists study the atmosphere, there is usually an affinity between meteorologists and aviation.
So, I've been looking forward to Rick Durden's new book The Thinking Pilot's Flight Manual. Rick and I have been friends for more years than either of us would probably like to count. An expert pilot as well as attorney, I've worked with him as an expert witness in aviation litigation plus we have spent many happy hours discussing weather and flying.
Rick is also a superb writer and helped with the editing of the aviation-related chapters of my Warnings: The True Story of How Science Tamed the Weather.
Rick's writing ability manifests itself in the Flight Manual. It is a wonderful book that takes pilots and pilot wannabes through the process of learning to fly and -- especially -- learning how to get yourself out of a jam. Anyone interested in aviation will enjoy this book.
