Today's Tornado Outlook

This map depicts the relative probability of tornadoes (solid lines) and the hatched area is where violent (F-2 or greater intensity) are predicted. Keep up on the weather in these areas today.

If you scroll down, you'll see coverage of the tornadoes in east central Kansas last night. I'm sorry to report that one man lost his life in the tornado in Reading, KS.  That storm damaged most of the town.

Finally, more heavy rain forecast the next 5 days in the mid-Mississippi Valley -- where it is not needed.

  1. I have a stupid question for you Mike. ( probably stupid for you science folks) Why is there a big X just west of where I live??? ( with a 1.4)

  2. If you are referring to the 1.4 local maximum in Wisconsin, it is to make the map easier to read.
