Drought Relief and More Excessive Rainfall

Here are the two latest forecasts of rainfall.

First, the worldwide model from the European Medium Range forecast group for the next ten days.

That is a 5" bullseye on the Nebraska-Kansas border. In most all of this area, the forecast rains will be most welcome.

However, the newest (from the midnight computer run) from the U.S. Global Forecast model shows less rain where it is needed in the Plains and more in the already flooded Mississippi Valley. That light blue area in northern Arkansas is a forecast of eight inches right where it is not needed.

I believe we will see significant rains the next ten days in the drought areas with the exception of the western Texas Panhandle and eastern New Mexico.
