Paging Meteorologists...Paging Meteorologists

Sigh.

On December 6, 2009, I wrote on this blog:

There is no evidence that “global warming” is causing the glacier at Mt. Kilimanjaro to retreat.

I have written on this same subject at least two additional times since then with same message. Local climatological records don't show warmer than normal temperatures in the region in recent decades! So, global warming could not possibly have caused the glacier's retreat.
"...may not lose its beautiful ice cap as scientists had predicted." Full story here. As has been the case too many times in the 'global warming' debate, the "scientists" were not meteorologists.

As I have explained on several occasions, meteorologists tend to be the most skeptical of 'global warming.' In the case of the Mt. Kilimanjaro, it took me maybe 30 minutes to look up the temperature records for the last few decades that show "warming" couldn't possibly have caused the period of melting snow.

They are having a conference about African "tourism and climate change" but no meteorologists are among the list of presenters. One would think they would learn the lesson that weather science is essential to assess the future. Unfortunately, no.
In spite of the failure of the IPCC's gloom and doom forecasts, they are going ahead with the premise that 'climate change' is the issue -- in spite of the evidence to the contrary.
