When I saw this in the paper today, I wanted to post it. This is not to say there will never be breakthough green technology, there will. As I have written many times, I have great hopes for solar and next-generation nuclear. Unfortunately, we aren't as far along with either as I would like.
There are breakthroughs happening often, especially now that research/development in greentech has been ramped up all over the world.
ReplyDeleteMedia sources like to speculate on when the technology will hit the market and think that's what will draw readers in, but personally I like just reading about the research that is being done and their findings.
Obviously making up technologies just to have a story would be pretty stupid, but I haven't encountered that yet.
Think how much further along we'd be on the path to zero-carbon non-combustion energy tech now (early 2024) if our governments weren't still subsidizing fossil fuel corporations to the tune of $7 trillion of our tax money every year (IMF). I mean, after a century of corporate welfare, isn't it time for fossil fuels to finally stand on their own two feet? Ahem.
