Close Encounter With a Waterspout -- Until They Get Too Close

Waterspouts are tornadoes over water. This pleasure boat spotted the spray (equivalent to the debris cloud of a tornado) and decided to "play" with it. Not smart, as you will see!

That said, we can benefit from their taping of it. When chasing tornadoes, I have commented that you can hear the sound on two frequencies:  The low-pitched rumble (sometimes said to sound like a freight train) and a higher pitched "hissing" sound that sounds somewhat like a distant waterfall. You can hear the latter clearly on the tape.

Now is the height of the waterspout season in the Florida Keys. Keep a safe distance away!
