Meanwhile, the Drought Tightens Its Grip
Here is a photo (h/t Stan Finger) from the Kansas Department of Transportation along U.S. 56 west of Great Bend after the region missed out on rain from the latest storm but experienced its high winds.
The worst of the drought extends from western Kansas south to most of the western two-thirds of Texas and much of New Mexico.
Rainfall the last seven days:
The Kansas Wheat Tour has found the crop to be in worse shape than last year overall. A good yield is 50 to 60+ bushels per acre.
